Thanks for your advise. You seem to know what you're talking about. In fact, the wireless printer etc seems a little bit complicated to me and I don't really want to buy a new printer. What are the refilling options? Can you reccomend any companies that do this? Why wouldn't you refill?

Thanks again

Does anyone know how I can save money on printer cartridges? They seem so expensive for what they are.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks : )

I haven't and I wouldn't try the refill option of some cartridges. I prefer the compatible one. There are mostly cheaper than the original ones. But i also had some bad experiences with that. Some Printer are good protected against compatible ones.

I think saving money on printer cartridges starts in the choice of the printer. There we have a good thread about some experiences. (not only about saving cartridge costs but with good views about different cartridge systems.

- wireless printer

Check it out, maybe it helps.

Hey saverholic, I know that thread wasn't really in the saving topic but it should give you a view of how certain the people with splat cartridges are.

Look here, I answered also one of the Yahoo ask questions. There are also another links to refill companies. --> HP Cartridge refill

The refill option could be good but I never tried it because of some experiences of friends of mine. (sometimes difficult -> amount, proceeding; a really shorter using time, sometimes dry outs) That meanings about it stopped me trying it. Also I never had enough time to get engaged with it. So did I mostly used compatible ones. I also had sometimes some problems with it how mentioned above but seldom.

So here some Compatible cartridges, Refill options in the relation to original ones.

You are welcome.

Hi Saverholic, what make of printer do you have?

Trying to save money I very recently made the huge mistake of putting compatibles in my Epson and really messed it up. Thankfully I've managed to resolve the problem. It's to do with pressure in the printer, with compatibles it can break the pressure system I've since learnt - I've been lucky. I'll certainly only buy Epson carts now.

Prices seem to change all the time, I'm finding Tesco good value at the moment for my type of printer.

We have an Epson which doesn't seem to mind the cheaper version cartridges, it does come up with a message to say they are not branded, which you just click okay on and it lets you proceed!

Unless my documents are important, I print everything in draft print Saverholic

So it really depends on what printer you have, which is the best place to get the cartridges :-)

Hey Marmite, did you mean that you really had problems with the compatible ones (cartridges build for your Epson Modell but from another manufacturer as Epson)? Or did you mean problems with refilled ones? (Sometimes you can also buy those ones) Because you said you currently by yours at Tesco, do they also have original branded printer cartridges? (I am more and more impressed what Tesco offers) Wow!

I find Annies error message is funny! It is a little bit like the saying "you must not steal music from their interprets" at the terms of condition from a illegal download site. smile.gif

Super mario

The HP Cartridge refill link you've posted on your thread isn't working so I can't see this. And looking at what marmite has said, printer compatibles seem like a risky option. I don't want to damage my printer with cheap cartridges.

Marmite, do you buy new cartridges from Tesco or get them refilled there?

Someone has advised that I use Cartridge World to refill my printers. Has anybody heard of this company?

Apologies I didn't make myself clear at all - sorry.

Yep the carts I buy from Tesco are Epson orginals, I just get a really good price for them there (plus Tesco points which are handy).

The carts I bought were Epson compatibles, they mess with the pressure in the new type of Epson printers apparently says my local Epson retailer. If the pressure is wrong it can actually pull half the insides of the cartridges through the printer which is why using compatibles invalidates the warranty. I was really lucky that I was able to rebalance the pressure in the printer - phew!

Sorry Vanessa unfortunately I can't see any prices. So I am not really sure that you would save a lot of money at these Page.

(Ok, with out prices could it be for free and that would be chaep! But I don't think it is meant like that.)

Hi guys

Just to let you know, I recently decided to go with the cartridge refill idea. Somebody had recommended Cartridge World so I got them refilled there and they were great. The quality of my print outs are just as good and I saved a substantial amount of money.

Thanks for all your advice, it's much appreciated. However, I suggest you refill your cartridges in the future to help save you money!

Hey thanks Saverholic for you review and your recommendation.

Maybe it is possible that you will post in the future your experiences to have a long time review about how log it works and if there are any hidden problems in long time using or not.

Yes, I would certainly be interested to know hoe long they last compared to the normal cartridges. We do a lot of printing out at home, the boys homework and then there is my work which uses a lot of black, although I do use draft print for most of it!
