Have you tried a system restore to a point beyond 3 weeks ago? this would get rid of anything installed in the last three weeks though.

Alternatively, do you have a Windows Disc, so that you could re do the whole system, by wiping it and starting again?

Have you tried programs like CC Cleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ this cleans up your computer, sorting out temp files etc to help it run faster, I do mine when it is sluggish! - Try this first

hi, download ccleaner and scan your applications, it should free up some space. Also usse disk cleanup to compress old files. then lastly use disk defragment. these steps should help for starters

If it is still being slow then press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Task Manager. This will show you all the processes running on the computer at any time. Look through the list of programme and processes that are running and it there is anything out of the ordinary - stop the process. Sometimes spy wear, etc can get on to your machine with out you knowing and use your processors more than you realise. Have you got anti virus and spy wear detection on your machine?

Good luck

It is always trial and error finding what could be slowing the system down, it could be spyware, lots of programs on start up etc. Let us know how you get on

What browser are you running, Firefox does tend to be quicker than IE, whether that would help in the interim

Well i am a Firefox lover since the day one. However thank to http://url=http://www.macecraft.com/jv16powertools2009/JV Powertools 2009 http:///url i got solved my problem.I just used it's File Recover Wizard on the C:/ Drive and run a basic registry cleaner wizard. Now all the error messages are gone and PC loads to desktop and to the normal speed within less than 10 seconds.I really love that software.

Hvae you tried out chrome yet? I haven't, but not sure I could be swayed from firefox. I use quite a lot of the ad on, like firebug for checking web pages and fox lingo for translations. I like that you can right click to search for a selected word too.

I find the same thing, cccleaner doesn´t seem to do very much, so I am using smartdefrag which is rated pretty highly. This still doesn´t cut it, any other products out there?

I found this very useful for repairing computers that are running slow.

Malwarebytes

Hope you all find it useful.

hi... a lot of software can be used for speed up pc. Like cc cleaner registery cleaner, Cleaning Registry should make your system run a little faster. If you use safe and reliable cleaners, you should be OK, BUT do not run them AT THE SAME TIME. Run one cleaner, then another one.

That's very true, running two cleaners at the same time could be detrimental. Hopefully most pieces of software would identify that something else was running and stop running until the user closes it, but there's always a possibility that it would not happen.

I am one of those people that prefer Firefox to Chrome as I love the add ons and themes. I even have a button to press for IE just in case a site doesn't work smile.gif

I only use CC Cleaner, so won't be running more than one at a time smile.gif
