Hi - I'm shortly to be a first-time mum and I need some advice on what pram, buggy and car seat to buy.

I've had a quick look around online and on the highstreet (mainly checking out what other mums had!) and I'm still none the wiser :-(

I'm feeling that a travel system that has all three might be a good place to start?

Does anyone have any suggested brands and models that they would recommend? I'm not likely to be running in the park with it but I will need it from newborn.

Thanks!

There is quite a good quiz on ThinkBaby.co.uk that helps you decide which buggy is right for you (http://www.thinkbaby.co.uk/news/article/mps/uan/1623). Travel systems are really good as it can keep the cost down of buying a separate pram, pushchair and car seat, as well as being able to morph as the baby grows. If you do decide to go for a travel system - here are my top suggestions:

If you're looking for something that is lightweight, check out the
Bugaboo Gecko
  • Retails for about £470

- Key Feature: Lightweight at 8.11kg
  • Three-in-one design, offering car seat portability, reversible carrycot and seat.

If you're looking for something easy to get up and down, check out the
Quinny Buzz
  • Retails for £330
  • Weighs basic 10.5kg, complete 12.2kg

- Key Feature: Unique one-touch unfolding system - easy to open and close

If you are looking for something that won't make too much of a hole in your pocket, check out the
Hauck I'coo Pico Pushchair
- Key Feature: Retails for £199.99 - much cheaper than most other systems
  • Weighs 11.8kg
  • Folds down to a very small size for easy transportation and storage at home

My sister recently had a sprog and bought herself the Graco Mirage Plus Travel System. The package included a pushchair / pram and a carseat. She went for it as it offered one-hand folding and opening, pefect for when you have buba in the other hand, and goes from birth to 3 years. It's much cheaper than the other ones that have been mentioned on this tread and is actually on sale at the mooment reatiling for and £118.99 at Baby's Day Direct - http://www.babydaysdirect.co.uk/ShowDetail...RRP+%A3139%2E99, but is about £140 everywhere else. I think it's heavier though at 8.9kg.

To prevent death or serious injury in the case of a collision or other accident, it is important that every child be properly restrained while riding in a moving vehicle. Nothing is more important than the safety of the kids. So choose the car seat that best fits your needs and safe for your child.

I went to Halfords for my newborn seat as I want them to fit the Isofix base for my Maxi Cosi newborn seat. They did this free of charge. Next one up is coming from Amazon though, some really good prices on there at the moment for good seats.
