Digital photo frames have been around for about a year now, and with the prices dropping as more companies bring new products out – they are set to be one of the best selling Christmas gifts for 2007. However they have had a mixed bag of reviews.

Would you like to find a digital photo frame in your stocking this Christmas?

Though I thought they looked really cool, I have heard that they have a really short battery life and that unless it runs off an SD card it's quite difficult to get you photos into the frame.

I do think they look nice - you can pretty much get any kind of frame now to match the other one you have around the house. The wood effect ones just look like normal photo frames.

I think it cold be irritating to have in your bedroom at night though. The alarm clock night p***es me off so I don't think I would be very patient with a photo shining out at me all through the night.

If I was given one for Christmas I would be happy, but I don't think I would buy one myself.

Resolution of the pictures and the size of the wallet aren't exactly great. I would probably go for a photo keyring instead as it looks better quality and is a better price. I have seen cheaper ones, but this tao one looks nice at £36 - http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/digital-ph...um-keyring.html

I bought my Mum a digital photo frame for Christmas and she loves it, we got her a Toshiba one andit cost £69, i bought a 1gb SD card for it and put 500+ photos on it and there's still room. It doesn't have battery compartment and runs off of the mains but she's happy wth it

I bought my brother one for Xmas. Just got a Kodak one and got 10% off so that's not bad. He asked for one, do the pictures change at specific times then? I suppose they are good if you have a digital camera as no one really prints photos any more.

If anyone wants the web link it's http://shop.kodak.co.uk/TrolleyDash/ you just play a quick game and get 10% off products.

am happy with digital photo frames. think of when u av to shift/share ur old prints.
i think they can do with more in built memory rather than memory cards. any body know where
i can get a good sized screen instead of key rings that will run on batteries; could be rechargeable.

That looks like a really nice one, my brothers bought one for my parents for Christmas, they leave it plugged into the USB slot on the PC and have it on their desk in the living room. They are pleased with it, trouble is we keep seeing photos that we don't have copies of and leaping on their PC with our USB keys for a copy biggrin.gif

I reckon it would make a good Mothers Day present for a Grandma preloaded with lots of pictures :-)

I saw a really good review of a selection of Digital Photo Frames on the Gadget Show this week. You can watch it again at http://fwd.five.tv/gadget-show/latest

Sorry but I didn't find the right show I think. But let me ask for bigger frames like that.

Did anybody hear about inventions you also could use for watching TV or something like that? (with several Inputs)

And are there some affordable solutions.

My parents got us one like that for Christmas just gone, very easy to put the photos on and does look good. We have ours in the lounge though and forget to turn it on, didn't think about having it plugged into the USB and doing it that way!

Ok what about the bigger ones did they also use batteries or is there a possibility to let it run with power supply unit?

And my second question is about, if you have that bigger one you should have the possibility to set the amount of viewed Photos and can you chose different backgrounds so that it looks like a pin board? That would be interesting for me to decide to buy one.

I don't know if you can change the background, haven't played with it, just put photos on. It is on a power lead, which did restrict where we put it, as we didn't want a lead running up the wall.

Hubby reckons you can change the backgrounds on the more expensive ones.

What - there was a way of taking photos before digital cameras? Only Joking :-)

I saw in the WHSmiths down the road from the office they have got the Kodak Easy Share 7" digital photo frame for £35. They have really come down in price.

So does that mean you can scan photos in?

Wow that would be handy, for all those pre-digital photos that just sit in a box :-)
