So finally it has arrived! Arguable the most hyped product of the year, the iPhone has landed on British shores 2 months after its release in the States.

Unfortunately I am not lucky enough to boast owning one of these devices, but the real question is would I want to.

Over hyped and over priced or the way forward for mobile technology? What do you have to say about the new Apple iPhone?

I haven’t had the chance to play with it either, but if the tests on YouTube are to be believed I WANT ONE!

The touch screen looks really good and smooth, just like the iTube. You can really see how they have incorporated all the functions of OS10 into the phone. There are a selection of tricks you can download to impress your friends with such as drinking beer or x-raying your hand!

I love the fact that it uses the actual internet with the Safari browser, rather than the crap mobile internet. You can have it portrait or landscape and can easily zoom in and out.

At £269 for the handset, though not the cheapest phone, you are getting an MP3 player, games console, mapping system, internet browser and e-mail inbox all rolled into one. Because of this I think it’s a bargain.

Here is one of the trick in practice! If only it could really dispense beer....

As I said in a previous thread Apple are restricting the development of games and applications on the device which means you won’t get any competition and prices will stay high. I think this is a real shame and means that there will be loads of games that you won't be able download to your phone.

Also there is no potential for adding any memory, unlike to N95 where you can insert a mini SD card to supplement the phone internal memory.

Haven’t had a play on the iPhone, but a friend lent me their iTouch for an afternoon. I was really impressed with the touch screen and picture quality, plus having things like YouTube in the main menu is quite fun. However the camera doesn’t look very good and I would be worried about the battery life as it has a lot of applications and I wouldn’t want to be recharging it all the time.

I would much rather have the Meizu phone:

It's the same as the iPhone but runs Windows CE - and there will be a 3G version of the Meizu soon.

It looks more than uncannily like the iPhone. Even the interface appears to be very similar to Safari. I would tend to be of the opinion that if they are trying to make it that similar to another product - it's probably because it's not as good.

You do have a very good point there, however Meizu do make very good MP3 players too. I would say their phone will be interesting to look into when it comes out none the less.

Either way the iPhone isnt exactly the best phone out there as it is.

I bought it even before it was launched in U.K and i too was worried about buying and unlocked iphone but its working well quite well i must add.if any one of you is interested in buying it i would totally recommend it. i bought it from www.thatzcool.co.uk just to let u know.
