Hi there,

With regards to wireless home cinema systems I would say that they are not that great, wireless home cinema systems work on three basic principles
1) Wireless Infra-Red
2) Wireless radio controlled
3) Wireless Blue Tooth

I don?t know any make which does the Wireless Blue Tooth systems however with regards to the radio controlled home cinema kits they are do pick up a lot of interference and Infra Red speakers work on the principle of ?Line of Sight? which basically means that the Infra Red transmitter and the Infra Red receiver should be in direct contact with each other always, if there is any interruption in their communication then there is a lot of interference.
So if you were watching a movie and you got up to pick up a can of coke, and if you came in between the transmitter and receiver then you will get a huge interference.
Before I state my recommendation I would like to apologize as my recommendation to you is listening to your brother and rip the carpets and install some good quality speaker leads there by even if in the future you want to upgrade the speakers the speaker cables would be of adequate quality to handle good speakers. It?s just a one off expense however I am sure you will enjoy it.
Hope this helps.
Raj

Hello Arron,
I have tried the home cinema system which you have suggested, trust me it did not work when I tried standing in between the Infra Red transmitter and receiver are interrupted. However you too give it a shot at any Sony Centre and give your views.

Bruv this home cinema kit costs around £560 pounds, and for this money you can get a much better sounding home cinema kit, however you will have to compromise on the size of the equipment and of course that it would be wired, but trust me *currently *the wired options are much better.
I would say for your price range the pack which I would suggest is as follows:

Speakers: KEF 1005 Eggs £300
Amplifier: Yamaha RXV450: £223
DVD Player: Anything for £ 70
Cabling: you have a lot of choice but for £50 you can get some decent stuff.

If you want to still further want to reduce your costs then you can but the Mission Speakers M7s for £ 150 and the speaker cable would be included as well. The other choice is the NSP106 speakers from Yamaha which cost £ 100 and include speaker cable as well.
If you need some more help please ask but don?t buy a Sony home cinema kit. Its not that I don?t like Sony stuff, I do like their cameras, TVs and camcorders however in home cinema they are not up to the mark yet.
I hope you can understand. And also Yamaha gives a 2-Year warranty and so does Mission and KEF give a 2 year warranty on the sub woofer and a 5 year warranty of the satellite speakers. What more can we ask?
Regards
Raj

The new sony bravia system is a great little wireless home cinema system which uses Wlan instead of IR so no problems of standing in front of it anymore.

Hi,

have a look on the PriceRunner website and you can find two fabulous wireless home cinema systems.

Thanks technophobe, the system you suggested seems like a cool one too.
